Some members also hold credentials as acupuncturists, chiropractors, personal trainers, or registered nurses. Many have years of experience and specialized training in particular massage techniques or in working with particular populations. *Contraindications: A Massage Therapist who is interviewing a new client may ask a series of questions and ask that a questionnaire be completed. There are some medical conditions that require a doctor's approval before massage is undertaken and some that are contraindications to massage. Contraindications include such conditions as active infections, varicose veins and phlebitis, broken bones, and some types of edema.
